Commandaria the oldest named wine in the world. Commandaria traditional sweet dessert wine, was first described in 800 B.C by the Greek poet, Hesiod. During Crusades on the 12th Century, England’s crusader king, Richard the Lionheart, during his marriage with Berengaria of Navarre, pronounced Commandaria as the “wine of the kings and the king of the wines”.
